How Much House Can You Afford An explanation of the mortgage process and how to realistically determine if your dream matches your pocketbook; how choosing the right mortgage could be the most important part of the home buying process. House Hunting, Where To Start? You’ve decided to look for a home, what is the first step, what’s next: how to select a real estate agent; understanding the relationship between the buyer and agent/seller and agent; what are your options? Non-Traditional Housing Resources A panel discussion to examine house hunting alternatives; including discussions with the Philadelphia County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regarding the availability of homes for sale and the process by which to acquire them.

Current Home Owners: Protecting Your Credit A discussion on the advantages of maintaining good credit; how to repair bad credit; how to dispute errors on your credit report; how to stay debt free once you’ve repaired your credit and the effect your credit history has on home refinancing, homeowner’s insurance, home equity loans, etc. Maintaining & Improving Your Investment A discussion on how to select a contractor, maintain and improve your home and increase its value and marketability; learn about the most effective home security systems, basic upkeep and decorating tips and the importance of “Curb Appeal.” Enhancing Your Future A discussion exploring the housing options and opportunities for those 50 + (“Baby Boomers”) including downsizing, reverse mortgages, and adult living communities. Selling Your Home You’re ready to sell; where do you start; come learn from experts how selling your home need not be stressful. Foreclosure Intervention & Prevention: A candid discussion with tools and tips to aid those who are going through the foreclosure process or those who are trying to avoid the foreclosure process. Will highlight recently passed state and federal legislation aimed at relieving the distress of struggling homeowners and providing safeguards for them as well

Home Repair Open House: “Repairs Any Homeowner Can Do With Just A Hammer, Nails, Wrench, Pliers, Screw Driver, And A Can Of Paint.” A hands-on workshop including electrical, plumbing, painting, heating/air conditioning, weatherizing and carpentry; expert instruction on performing your own minor home repairs KidPOWER! An interactive workshop offering young people, from the ages of 8 - 12 tools for financial goal setting, budgeting and strategies that will prepare them for a successful financial future. Show Me The Money: Tools For Teens An interactive workshop introducing young people, from the age of 13-18, to the world of savings and credit cards; why and how to save and how and when to use credit cards; the importance of a good credit history.

Living the Dream Award This is a first time home buyers award for those buying properties that they intend to occupy. Entrants must purchase home within nine months of drawing to be eligible. Award recipient will be determined on October 18, 2008.

Entrants must purchase home within nine months of drawing to be eligible. Award recipient will be determined on October 18, 2008.

General Session Credit and Foreclosure Senate Bill 486 specifically addresses foreclosures and requires lenders to send copies of foreclosure notices to the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency in an effort to monitor foreclosures statewide.
